
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 24: The 44th Annual Chrysalis Fashion Show at The Leela, Mumbai, was a breathtaking celebration of creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship. Organized by the Apparel Manufacture & Design Department and B.Voc in Fashion Design at Premlila Vithaldas Polytechnic, SNDT Women’s University, the event showcased seventeen outstanding collections from graduating students.
The show, renowned as a launchpad for India’s top designers, has previously nurtured talents like Anita Dongre, Neeta Lulla, Arpita Mehta, Masaba Gupta, and Payal Singhal. This year, under the expert direction and choreography of Utsav Dholakia, the runway spectacle reached new heights of elegance and professionalism. Renowned photographer Ilesh Shah documented the fashion show’s key moments.
A distinguished jury featuring industry stalwarts Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Feroza Dalal, Aparna Badlani, Meher Castelino, Palak Shah, and Chandrakant Shah evaluated the collections before the grand showcase. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including SNDT Women’s University Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ruby Ojha, Registrar Dr Vilas Nandavadekar, P.V. Polytechnic Principal Mr Dinesh Girap, and Apparel Manufacture & Design Department Head Dr Jinal Sangani.
The annual fashion show of SNDT Women’s University was a spectacular celebration of creativity and craftsmanship, recognizing outstanding student collections that showcased innovation, artistry, and commercial viability.
The Collection with the Best Surface Ornamentation award was presented to Lemonchus, designed by Aparna Gaikar, Janvi Surve, Kshitija Kalmate, Priti Gupta, and Shikha Kumari. Another remarkable collection, Garden of Eden, created by Unnati Chitroda and Hawa Ansari, also received this honor.

The Collection with the Best Melange of Textiles award was given to Macabre Whispers, a striking ensemble by Esha Jain, Disha Chotaliya, Mrunmayi Adsule, Shrutika Bodke, and Aashka Bindal.
Recognizing the seamless blend of style and silhouette, the Outfit with Best Innovation in Style & Silhouette award was conferred upon Morphee, crafted by Yakshita Poojari, Vaishnavi Patil, Shivani Mahadik, Sarika Kubal, and Diya Bulani. Another exceptional collection, Golden Sand, designed by Gauri Nair and Anuja Jadhav, also earned this prestigious recognition.
The Most Innovative Collection award was secured by Morphee, crafted by Yakshita Poojari, Vaishnavi Patil, Shivani Mahadik, Sarika Kubal, and Diya Bulani. Zaha, a bold and artistic creation by Sara Tamhankar also received the same award.
The Most Commercially Viable Collection was awarded to Satva Sutra, designed by Shammbhavi Matalia, for its market-ready appeal and practical elegance.
The Special Jury Award was bestowed upon Vara, created by Disha Poojary, Muzna Shaikh, Roshni Yadav, Aditi Ghadigaonkar, and Aarti Ughade.
The highlight of the evening, the Collection of the Year award, was bestowed upon two exceptional collections: Cane Couture, an avant-garde collection designed by Nabeela Shaikh, Sadaf Khan, Farheen Khan, Misbah Shaikh, and Purva Karde and Golden Sand, designed by Gauri Nair and Anuja Jadhav, cementing its place as the pinnacle of creative excellence.
This year’s fashion showcase was a testament to the students’ immense talent, dedication, and innovative approach to fashion, setting new standards for design excellence.
