Meet Harishchandra Thorat, 68, a half marathon runner and recipient of numerous national and international fitness awards, who runs the ‘Moraya Gym’ with his son, Hemant Thorat, to provide fitness enthusiasts with a variety of gym facilities such as Zumba, Bollywood Dance batch, Yoga, CrossFit, and Abs batch.
Established in 2005, Moraya Gym, a unisex gym, has spread its wings with four branches in the PCMC area by offering fitness services to enthusiasts at affordable prices.
With the proper ventilation and all the safety precautions in place, working out at this gym makes fitness enthusiasts stronger without worrying about the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Located near Padamji Papermill, Thergaon, the Gym is equipped with ample parking space and easy accessibility. The gym is open from Monday to Saturday from 5 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 10 pm.
Hemant Thorat of Moraya Gym has vast experience in fitness for the last 25 years and has participated in many bodybuilding competitions. At present, Thorat is training bodybuilders participating in national and international competitions.

The gym is also equipped with the cardio section, which includes treadmills, ellipticals, spinning bikes, a vast collection of around 35 to 40 weight training equipment, like Lat pull down, Mid row, Assisted pull-ups, Chest press, Pec fly, Shoulder press, Lateral raises, Preacher curl, Cable cross trainer, Squat rack, Incline, Decline & Flat Benches, Leg press, Leg extension, Leg curl prone, Hack squat, Calf Raises seated, Abdominal crunches, Dumbells, Plates & Barbells, etc.
Apart from this, Moraya Gym is equipped with CrossFit training equipment like Battle rope, Ladder, Cones, Medicine balls, Skipping ropes. The gym members participate in the group activity for socialising with like-minded fitness enthusiasts and benefit from activities like Zumba, Bollywood dance batch, yoga, CrossFit, and Abs batch.
Thorat said, “We also have a BMI check-up machine of one of Inbody’s best brands. This delivers clinically accurate results in less than a minute. It records your weight, lean body mass, fat mass, body water levels, etc., from the last eight tests to track progress over time. This helps us plan the workout and nutrition plans to help our members achieve their goals at the earliest.”
