She received her formal training at the prestigious Government College of Art & Crafts in Kolkata, honing her craft under the mentorship of renowned artists such as Satyen Ghosal and Gopal Ghosh. During this time, Anita was inspired by a vibrant community of contemporary artists, including luminaries like Dhiraj Choudhury and Jogen Chowdhury.
Anita’s early work was deeply influenced by her Indian heritage, yet she continuously sought to blend traditional elements with modernist sensibilities. Over time, her style evolved, weaving spiritual motifs and Indian mythology —such as the lotus flower and Om mantra—into her work, reflecting her growing interest in the metaphysical aspects of life.
